About The Artist
Frankie Hansbearry is a native Sacramentan of Okinawan and Northern European ancestry, having spent most of her life in Sacramento, with a five-year chapter in San Felipe, Baja California.
Her early exposure to other cultures came through the National Geographic magazines her mother subscribed to, sparking a lifelong fascination with comparative mythologies and the cultural practices of indigenous people. Frankie is captivated by ancient figurines and folk art traditions from around the world, with a deep appreciation for music, traditional dress, spiritual practices, and dance. Much of her art, particularly her sculptures, tells stories of human strengths and flaws. Some pieces are reflective, while others are purely playful. If her work resonates with viewers in any way, she considers it a success.
For Frankie, creating something from nothing is like birthing—each piece a gift from the universe. With her overactive mind fueling this creative journey, she feels fortunate to be along for the ride.
